In my entire three plus decades of life I have never lived in the same home for as long as we have been in our current home. I am used to moving every year and a half or so, so I never really had the desire to change around or update my space all that often. But seeing as how we are on year four in our current home with no plans to move anytime soon, I have been starting to feel the itch to shake things up. I don’t always want to undertake a big DIY project though or completely gut a room. Sometimes I just want to be able to update my space with a simple, budget friendly change. Enter Lightify from Osram Sylvania…
I will admit that I came into this as a bit of a skeptic, but I was blown away by how innovative it is. Installing the Lightify smart connected lighting products (and the free app) allowed me to completely change the look and feel of an entire room with literally just the touch of a button.
It took me about 5 minutes for setup, from start to finish and the app walked me through each step. Here is my room with the harsh overhead lighting before:
Basically, you install one Gateway that can be paired with up to 50 different Lightify bulbs. Using the app on your phone or device, you can change the color of the light, the tone, the brightness or also power it on and off. You can find the products at Amazon and Lowes.
My hubby and I prefer different tones of white in our bedside lamps, so this is the perfect solution for us…we can each set ours to the tone of our choice!
And in our sitting area where we often drink coffee and play chess or card games, I added the Lightify Flex Strip underneath the windowsill so that we can go keep it calm and cozy with a warm white or a nice orangey glow or really switch it up and use a teal to bring out the accent pieces in that space. Or anywhere in between, the choices feel nearly limitless!
To install the strip, I simply removed the sticky backing and stuck it in place, attaching each strip to the next. The cords were able to be hidden in my curtains so it provides an incredibly clean profile.

There’s always that little skeptical feeling at first when we try something new. But that’s great you’ve enjoyed some smart lighting change. It’s nice to see actual implementations of the smart technologies like smart lights. And right now, there are even more smart devices like dimmers and switches popping out in the market. Which I think is definitely exciting for everyone. Other than the Lightify, have you used other smart device?
