You may have noticed my absence from the blog world the last couple of weeks, but I am now back and raring to go. I spent that time enjoying a much needed break with my family and just relaxing a bit with no deadlines and no pressure. Just salt water and sunshine. It was glorious, but I missed you guys too. I’ve got lots of fun projects coming up this summer and an exciting blog conference less than two weeks away, but today’s DIY is one that could not be simpler. In fact it really only requires a pool noodle and a knife!
This project came about because each and every time that we pull out a card game my little ones get frustrated because their hands are not large enough to fan out the cards and hold them. When asked for a specific card while playing Go Fish or Old Maid, they often have to lay all of their cards on the table and go through them one by one, giving their older sister ample time to take a peek at all of them. It had become a large enough issue that my four year old had decided that she no longer wanted to play. We had some extra pool noodles laying around the house from our pool noodle croquet, so I came up with a quick solution to make a card holder.
Mind numbingly simple, but I cut down a pool noodle to fit their table and then cut right down the middle, essentially filleting it. Once cut, carefully slice part way through from the top so that the cards have a place to sit. I just ran my knife along it leaving just a small slit. Problem solved, happy kids playing card games again and I’m only out a dollar for my supplies. Not too shabby.
Do you have any tips or tricks to helping your kids with card games? We love games around this house, so I’d love to her from you!
This is a really smart idea-would be fun for game nights for grown ups too! Hope you had a wonderful vacation! 😉

I did have an excellent vacation, thanks so much Tania!
This is great. Love the ingenuity and now everyone gets to play!
