Wow, it has been just over a year since I started this blogging adventure and I cannot believe how much has changed in that time! There have been ups and downs, projects that far surpassed what I could have imagined for them and those that have flopped, blood, sweat, tears and tons of excitement. It has been a roller coaster, but I want to thank each and every one of you for hopping on this ride with me. Hang on tight, because 2015 will bring tons of new projects, DIYs, recipes and ideas that I just cannot wait to share with you!
But first, let’s take a look back at the ten most popular posts from Down Home Inspiration from the past year. The best of 2014, if you will. Drumroll, please…
To the surprise of no one who has seen my sidebar lately, the $10 and 10 Minute Window Valance continues to be the all time most viewed post on my site. To tell you the truth, when I made these valances I really debated whether or not to even put them on the blog. I figured that it had been done before and my pictures would not bring anyone in. Boy, was I wrong. I am so glad that you all love the valances as much as I do! In keeping with the window valance love, the Renter Friendly version has also been a huge hit! It has been nipping at the heels of the original post, trying to overtake it for the number one most popular post. The simplicity of this 12×12 paper basket is what seems to win over so many people. There are no ends to what you can do with this sweet little basket and it could not be easier to make. Although this one dates back to to the beginning of the year, it still receives tons of views each and every day. Aah yes, the wine bottle and glasses carrier…this has been the post that went the most “viral” for me. I find this baby popping up on all kinds of sites and blogs and have been amazed at how many people couldn’t wait to make their own. It remains such a spectacular DIY gift for so many occasions that I anticipate it continuing to draw people in. These yummy 3 ingredient Paleo crepes go all the way back to February, but still remain one of the most popular posts from 2014. They are healthy, delicious and so super easy. If you haven’t tried these yet, make sure that you do! Some simple PVC pipes come together to create this DIY photo backdrop stand. The backdrop possibilities become nearly endless when you use the option of sheets, fabric, and wrapping papers. I love that it can be so versatile and yet be taken apart and take up almost no space whatsoever. Keeping on with the love of vino, the wine bottle bird feeder seemed as good a reason to empty a bottle as any other. This one had some more intricate saw cuts than most of my projects that I share, so I was thrilled to see that it made this tope ten list! Wow, the Pottery Barn knockoff Rope Knot Table Lamp took off with so much force! It was so incredible to hear from so many of you that you preferred my version to the PB one and humbling to receive pictures of your own lamps that you had made by following the directions in the post. This lamp right here is why I continue to look through the PB catalog, not for things that I would like to purchase, but for things that I can recreate. This was truly one of the easiest projects that I did all year, but also one of the most popular. Apparently I was not the only one who wanted to figure out how to whitewash wood! Okay, you all must love for your tootsies to be comfy like I do because this sling sandal tutorial got tons of views. I mean, you can make a pair for just a couple of bucks, so I understand your excitement! I really did make a pair in each and every color of flip flops that I could find. So that is it, a quick recap of the first full year of Down Home Inspiration. What do you think of the top ten list? Did you favorite post make this list?
