Organic Fruit Wash

My family adores fresh fruit.  Between apples, oranges, bananas, any kind of berry or melon, we eat some kind of fruit on a daily basis.  We make sure to wash them all as best we can before eating, but sometimes it can be tricky to get all of the residue and wax off.

That’s why I love this super simple organic fruit wash.  Just a couple of sprays, rub it on the fruit, rinse and you are good to go.  You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your fruit is clean and that you aren’t putting any unnecessary chemicals into your body.  Win-win!

Supplies

*small spray bottle

*3 Tbsp distilled white vinegar

*organic lemon

Start by rolling the lemon on the counter to release more of the juice.  Cut lemon in half and squeeze 2 Tbsp of juice into the spray bottle.  Add 3 Tbsp of vinegar and one cup of warm water, then mix well.

When using the wash, simply spray it onto the fruit or produce (with peels on) and rub.  Rinse with fresh water and enjoy!  Store the remaining fruit wash in the fridge for up to 10 days.

Vinegar is an amazing all natural cleanser, so using it in this fruit wash only seemed natural.  I had slight reservations that my produce might have a vinegar taste to it, but was surprised to find that it did not at all.  The wax and residue are removed much easier and quicker with the wash than when trying to just rinse under the faucet and the peace of mind is fantastic!

So now that all of the yummy fruits and veggies that we all enjoy are ripe and in season, make sure to whip up this organic fruit wash and enjoy all that nature has to offer!

What’s your favorite fruit or veggie?  How do you clean it?
