It’s that glorious time of year again when just about everything gets a heavy dose of pumpkin spice. I mean, we’ve been waiting for it to come for so long that the first day Starbucks is offering it again the line is out the door crazy. But you can skip the madness (and the wait!) and make your own pumpkin spice coffee creamer at home. It is super simple, and you can enjoy it all year round if you like.
Ready to make your own? Excellent! You may even have all the ingredients on hand already.
- 1 cup milk (I used almond milk and it was great)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ⅓ cup pumpkin puree
- 2 Tbs maple syrup
- 2 tsp cinnamon extract
- ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice
- Add all ingredients together and mix well.
- Keep refrigerated and consume within 7 days.
- Shake well before use.
Because my hubby and I usually drink almond milk, that is what I had on hand and it worked beautifully in my creamer. Cow’s milk and soy would be perfect too. That’s one of the best things about making it yourself…you can make it your own, however you like it. I also used homemade pumpkin puree, just to avoid added chemicals and preservatives, but it is not necessary. Just be sure to buy the pure pumpkin puree and not the pumpkin pie filling at the store. There is a big difference between the two!
Fall drinks, football and sweaters are all things that I look forward to each year to help me make my way through the blazing hot southern summers, so I am beyond excited to be starting to enjoy them now. What is your favorite fall drink? Are you on the pumpkin spice band wagon? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
