I am fairly obsessed with all things sparkly and I firmly believe that adding bows to projects (or really just life in general) completes them. The problem for me has always been that I suck at tying any kind of bow. I kid you not when I say that my mother, still to this day, will come along behind me and retie the bow that is on my front door or on the back of my daughter’s dress. It’s that bad.
That’s where this tutorial comes into play. I spent countless hours pouring over every single YouTube video and blog post that I could find to piece together a large holiday bow tutorial that even I could do. If you are like me, this tutorial will change your life. In less than 5 minutes from start to finish, you can make a gorgeous, large and full bow out of your favorite wired ribbon.
All you need to create your own bow is wired ribbon (I used about 12 1/2 feet for each of my bows), pipe cleaners or floral wire and scissors that you don’t mind cutting wire with. I would highly recommend that you keep an inexpensive pair of scissors around precisely for projects like this.
There are about a gazillion ways that I can think to use a big fun holiday bow like this. Wreaths, tree picks, present toppers, mantel decor, staircase designs, and any other thing that needs an extra dose of excitement would be a perfect use.
Sometimes the ribbon can seem bit costly up front, but just remember that you can get two big bows from a 25ft roll, and you can almost always find ribbon on sale at your local craft stores. Check Walmart too…they sometimes surprise me with their craft supplies.
So now that you’ve got a great bow, how are you going to use it? I’d love to hear from you!
