My hubby is a big fan of chai tea. He will drink multiple mugs full of it a day. It’s so bad that he normally leaves a mug out so that he can reuse it throughout the day similar to what some might do with a water glass. So when I ran across some recipes for homemade vanilla chai tea mix last year I decided to give it a try. At that point, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I combined a few bits and pieces from a couple of recipes and came up with something that not only did my husband like it, he seems to prefer it to most of the concentrates or mixes sold in the store. I whip up a big batch every couple of weeks and he is free to drink to his heart’s content. Are you ready to make some of your own?
- 1 cup non dairy creamer
- 1 cup non dairy vanilla creamer
- 1 cup dry milk powder
- 1½ cups instant tea, unsweetened
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 2½ cups sugar
- Add all ingredients to blender or food processor and pulse until it becomes a fine powder. Add two to three tbsp. mix to 8 ounces hot milk or water.
Now all that’s left to do is add 2-3 tablespoons of the mix to 8 ounces of hot milk or water and enjoy!
The vanilla chai tea mix is delicious! Because we are not using sugar almost at all I didn’t add it to the mix. We are adding a little bit of honey to the mug – the taste is wonderful 🙂 Thank you for that wonderful recipe!
Thank you witoldyna! I’m so glad that you like it! We used the recipe while doing a Paleo cleanse and ended up doing the same thing, Honey is a great sweetener choice.
Yum, chai tea is my favorite! Pinning this for sure, and thanks so much for sharing it at my link party!

Thanks for hosting! 🙂
I am the female version of your husband! I too just leave my mug out and reuse throughout the day, although I have tried to cut back in order to take in less calories. I love vanilla chai (not spicy chai) and have found two store varieties I enjoy, but am anxious to try this recipe!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Thanks Barb! I’m so glad to know that my husband is not alone. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the mix!
This recipe sounds great and I can’t wait to try it.
One thing I’m going to add is a bit of ground cardamom – one of my favourite flavour notes in chai.
Thanks for sharing this 🙂
What a great thought Lisa! I’ll have to try that next time I make some. Thanks for the input!
Your recipe looks and sounds lovely! I can’t wait to try it. 🙂
