Spring Flower Wreath made with Embroidery Hoops

Although Mother Nature seems to feel otherwise, I am so super ready for spring.  I’ve been bucking the system and slowly incorporating bright and fun spring colors into my house (like my bunny pillows) despite the cold gray weather outside.  And though the weather is still choosing not to cooperate, my mood has been lifted by the joyful, happy fabric that I chose to use in this spring flower wreath that I made using embroidery hoops.  This was one of the quickest projects that I have done in awhile, taking me just 15 minutes and costing less than $7.  The wreath adds such an exuberant and cheery feel to my front door that you can’t help but have your spirits lifted while looking at it.

I bought five (6 inch) embroidery hoops and one (4 inch) hoop at Hobby Lobby while they were 50% off, making them just $0.50 each.  I found a fun fabric that I liked and purchased 1/4 yard of it as well as 1/8 yard of solid yellow.  I stretched the fabric in my hoops and cut the excess off, then I arranged the hoops into a flower shape.  I used a couple of dabs of hot glue on each hoop to adhere it to the center hoop and those on either side of it.  Then I cut out a “stem” and leaves from green card stock.  I also ran a brown ink pad quickly over the edges of the leaves and stem and folded the leaves down the middle to add a bit of dimension and hot glued those on as well.

I’m really happy with the way that this wreath turned out.  It was such a fun and simple project, and now I am looking forward to re-using the embroidery hoops when the seasons change and coming up with new wreath designs.
