Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie

Okay, so I hate to be a whiner, but it is hot.  While we are waiting and waiting and waiting for our pool to be built, I have been looking for other ways to keep cool this summer.  Starting my day off with a smoothie (or really just enjoying one anytime!) has been a big help, but there are only so many green smoothies a girl can drink before she starts to look for some alternatives.  Thankfully, I found a bag of frozen blueberries while I was cleaning out my freezer and came up with this super easy and delicious blueberry oatmeal smoothie.  It is fast, healthy and best of all will help cool you off a bit!

There are some really easy substitutions that can be made here as well.  Out of blueberries?  Add whatever frozen fruit you’ve got on hand.  Only have fresh fruit, not frozen?  Just add some ice cubes along with the fruit, throw it all into the blender and you’ll be good to go.  Rolled oats would be the best option here, but I only had instant on hand so I went with it.  They still tasted great, although maybe didn’t give me as much nutritional value as rolled would have.

This is also a great treat for little ones.  My kids think that it is a milkshake and that they are getting a special treat.  😉  Drink up and try to cool off as best you can this summer.

PS: for those of you wondering about the mud run over the weekend, it was so fun!  My girlfriends and I loved it (my kiddos did too!).  I can’t wait to show you some photos, but I’ll add this sneak peek:
