There are so many incredible ideas on Pinterest that I add to my boards, but know that I won’t ever share them on the blog. You know the ones…you’ve seen them a gazillion times by three million different bloggers and you almost just roll your eyes when you see another one pop up. I often make those projects and recipes and just don’t share them on the blog in the hopes of not being a copy cat.
But sometimes a project is just so darn good that there is a reason that you see it basically everywhere.
These DIY Crease Less Hair Ties are the perfect example of one of those projects. I had been putting it off for quite some time in the hopes of coming up with some groundbreaking new design, but since that has shockingly not happened, I went for it.
Y’all, I’m kind of mad at myself that I waited this long. They are ridiculously popular for a reason!
These make perfect stocking stuffers, gifts for friends (and your kid’s friends) and even teachers! I’ll show you some ideas to add a little something extra at the end.
If you can give yourself about a week of advance notice, I highly suggest ordering your elastic online as it will be much cheaper. I found there are some awesome Etsy shops that have adorable color options and are really reasonably priced.
Supplies:
5/8 inch foldover elastic
scissors
lighter or fray check
ruler
Here are the super in depth, hard to follow directions…Measure 10 inches of elastic and cut. Fold in half and tie a small knot at the end. Use your lighter to singe the ends or fray check so that it doesn’t fray. Repeat for as many hair ties as you want!
This honestly could not be easier and it will end up saving you a boatload of money in the end. I bought all of the elastic that you see in the photos above for less than $10 with shipping. When you think about some of these hair ties costing up to $2 per piece, it’s a no brainer to make your own.
I used some pre cut Project Life cards to hold my hair ties and they are all ready for gift giving. My tween daughter is already planning on gifting some to all of her school friends.
And if you are looking to take the gift giving up a notch or two, how about adding a manicure in as well (I saw some of the Essie brand of nail stickers at the dollar store!)? Or maybe a gift card? Perfect teacher gift done!
Do you love the crease less hair ties in your house? If so, I hope you’ll make some for yourself!
