DIY Hair Tie Lollipop

At about this time every year I start panicking about all of the little gifts that I need to get together for friends, teachers, coworkers, mail carriers…the list goes on and on and it can start to overwhelm me in a hot minute.

So we decided to keep it simple for my daughter’s friends this year, and we came up with these adorable hair tie lollipops.

And we LOVE them!

They came out so much cuter than we could have imagined and at less than $3 a pop (haha, totally unintentional pun, but it stays!), they are perfect to give to all of her little girlfriends without breaking the bank.

Supplies:

Hair ties (I bought mine at the dollar store)

cake pop stick

cardboard

hot glue

optional: cellophane goody bag, terra cotta pot and candies

Start out by tracing two circles on cardboard. I found that a regular old can from my pantry was the perfect size! Glue the cake pop stick to the back of one piece of cardboard and then glue the other piece onto it as well, making a sandwich with the stick.

Next, choose six hair ties to use as your base. Put three on either side of the cake pop stick. Now choose another six hair ties and put them over the top of the previous ones, going in the opposite direction. You should now have a “T” of hair ties.

Then using 10-12 hair ties, place them onto the cardboard at an angle so that they cover any exposed cardboard left by the first two layers of hair ties.

Again, use 10-12 hair ties placed at an opposite angle, making sure to once again cover any exposed cardboard.

Wrap with a cellophane goody bag and tie a little bow to hold it all together. For an added treat, use hot glue to place into a small terra cotta pot filled with candy.

And you’re all done! We whipped these out in a matter of minutes, they are so simple. Kids can even make these all on their own (make sure to use a low temp glue gun!) if they wanted to.

I mean really, who wouldn’t want to get one of these sweet little guys?
