I feel like I am crushing this laundry room makeover right now. I am riding the high of seeing my projects come to life and am so thrilled to get to share them with you! In case you missed it, here is the hot mess that it was before and the new light fixture. Next week will be the big reveal! In the meantime, go grab yourself the two supplies needed to make yourself a pillowcase laundry bag.
Seriously, two things are all you need to make some pretty and useful laundry bags that you can hang on your wall to preserve precious floor space. You will need:
12″ embroidery hoop
pillowcase of choice
That’s it! Start by loosening the thread on the outer ring. In case you aren’t familiar with embroidery hoops, you can find them at any craft store (mine were $1.99 each at Hobby Lobby) and they look like this:
Once opened, put the inner ring inside the pillowcase, down to about where the hem is at the opening.
Slide the outer ring on and tighten. Be sure that the screw is opposite of the side hems or it won’t hang as nicely.
At this point you can leave it as is, but I chose to fold the excess fabric back over the ring, like so:
And there you have it. For about $5 per laundry bag, it’s a great deal and it changes up the room immensely. I hung four of them and they are all at a height that my kiddos can reach, so fingers crossed that I’ll be picking less dirty socks and underpants up off the floor! You could hang them with a nail or screw, but I chose my old standby of Command Hooks.
I love that it has more of a feminine feel to it than some of the popular hanging laundry bags out there. That goes perfectly with my new theme! Stay tuned for more laundry room goodness!
