Festive Fall Wreath

wreath 6

Decorating for fall tends to be a challenge for me.  I have to watch myself or before I know it I am throwing a Santa or two in the mix in all of my excitement for Christmas.  This is the time of year that everyone becomes so busy that it’s easy to blink and have a whole month pass.  That is why I love multi-purpose fall décor.  If I can put it out in October and not have to worry about it until I am ready to put my Christmas tree up, I am much more likely to use it.  That’s where this sweet wreath comes into play.  Pumpkins are a fall staple and can last through the entire season and an ambiguous message (such as “fall”) leaves it open to interpretation.  This wreath could really be displayed from September through November and no one would think a thing of it.  And for $10, that’s a pretty good deal.

Here is the breakdown:

Burlap pumpkin: $2.40 at Hobby Lobby

Small Pumpkins: $1.20 each at Hobby Lobby

Wreath: $5.47 at Walmart

Burlap, clothespins and raffia covered wire: on hand

I had to do a double take when I saw a wreath form pre covered in moss for $5.47 in the faux floral section at my local Walmart.  I normally pay around $6 for the wreath form alone and I was expecting to have an additional $5 or so in moss expenses, but Walmart saved the day.  And I just fell in love with the burlap pumpkin from Hobby Lobby with its pretty glittery design.  It had to come home with me.

Just look at this adorable little guy!

I set my pumpkins on my wreath and made sure that I had them situated where I wanted them to be and then I just hot glued those puppies right on there.  I cut out four small pieces of burlap for my banner and used the same technique that I had done with my burlap silverware holder to paint the letters on.  Easy peasy.  Next up was just cutting a piece of raffia covered wire long enough to go across the front with a small amount left on each end to push through the wreath form.  I didn’t even bother to glue these, just shoved them right in.  And all that was left was using a handful of tiny little clothespins to hang my banner with.

Aren’t they cute?

And that’s it.  I spent about 20 minutes in total on this wreath and it cost me $10 to make.  I now have a wreath that will get me through fall and it is cute enough that maybe it might hold my focus away from Christmas for a bit longer.
