Gameday Playbook Brownies

It’s no secret that I am a die hard football fanatic and I am so excited that it is almost time for the big game, even though my beloved 49ers had a rock bottom year. There is something so exciting about watching two teams battle it out knowing that there can only be one victor. I just love it! My entire family does actually, which is why I decided to surprise them and make these super fun gameday playbook brownies to enjoy while watching the big game. They were super easy to make and were eaten up before the game was even over!

I stocked up on my favorite brownie mix (Pillsbury™ Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix for life!) and grabbed some Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® icings while I was sprinting through Walmart before “the big snow storm” recently. PS: North Carolina’s idea of an epic snow storm is just about nothing. Being a Yankee, I can’t help but laugh about it.

Before the big game, my oldest daughter and I got together in the kitchen to prepare our treat. The Pillsbury™ brownie mixes are so amazing when you are working on a budget and/or time crunch because the work is mostly done for you. It is so great when baking as a family too. I let my daughter crack the eggs (into a small bowl because she still gets the occasional eggshell piece) as well as measure out the oil and water. She stirred it all up and could not have been more proud of herself.

We followed the package’s directions to bake the brownies and then allowed them to cool before frosting. We debated cutting the brownies into football shapes and just making icing “laces,” but we wanted to think outside the box a bit more. We ended up grabbing some green food coloring and mixing it into our vanilla icing to create a “field.”

We saved a small amount of white frosting from the can for our “play” then stirred the green color in, then added more color and stirred some more…

With the brownies cooled, we frosted the entire 13×9″ pan and then added our saved white icing to a zippered bag. We snipped the end of the bag and started outlining the field with a line of white.

Then we drew a line right down the middle and then added two more to each side.

Now it was time to add our “players” to the field. Some “x”s and “o”s were easy enough to add and they created just the right touch to really feel the gameday fun.

Then it was time to share them! My daughter was so excited to share the playbook brownies with her siblings! And as you can see from their faces, they were just as happy to eat them!

This was such a great chance for my daughter and I to enjoy some special moments together and I cannot wait to mix up a moment with her again soon! In fact, we had so much fun that we are already coming up with some ideas to share for Valentine’s Day, so stay tuned and check back soon to see what else we whip up and in the meantime you can stock up and save on Pillsbury™ Brownie Mixes and get more great ideas to mix up a moment here.
