Like Santa, I’ve been making a list and checking it twice. Sadly, mine isn’t as simple as a nice or naughty list; it’s my seemingly never ending to do list and it has a way of growing as the holidays approach. Getting my house in tip top shape before company visits is always at the top of the list. My kitchen is the gathering place in my house, so that is where I like to focus the majority of my attention. Here’s how I get it holiday ready:
- Clean and dust cabinets
- Having had both white and dark cabinets, I know that no matter what finish you have your cabinets will show each and every gross mess that has found its way onto them. Whether it be the spilled milk that trickled off the counter or the dirty handprint around the knob, cleaning them off makes a world of difference. I’ve been using Endust Lemon as my go to since it both dusts and cleans all in one. It basically makes your cloth a magnet to keep all the dirt, allergens and dust in so that you aren’t spreading it around. (It’s also awesome to clean car dashboards, furniture, window seals, non-fabric blinds and the list goes on!)
- Wipe Down all Appliances
- Ugh, stainless steel seems to be the bane of my existence. Keeping it gleaming is a full time job. Wipe it all down the morning that company is expected.
- Polish Countertops
- An often overlooked task, there is nothing more embarrassing than having a guest sit down at your breakfast bar and lean their elbows on a dirty countertop (not that I would know from experience or anything, but syrup on a guest is pretty mortifying). I use Endust Lemon for this job as well!
- Sanitize Your Disposal and Shine Sink
- Keeping the smells from your disposal at bay is essential to having a clean kitchen. Be sure to give the sink a quick shine while you’re at it.
- De-clutter
- Be sure to tuck away any small appliances or decor that you won’t need for the gathering. I’ve found that there never seems to be enough counter space when we are hosting a meal, so de-cluttering helps give me all the usable space possible.
- Prepare for Coffee Drinkers
- You’ll want to make sure that you have enough coffee and mugs on hand for any coffee drinkers. It’s always best to be prepared!
- Get Your Party on!
- You can now rest assured that you’re ready for company and kick back for a good time!

Had no idea you could use Endust on granite countertops and also the sink! Girl, I’m headed to the store! Thanks for the tips!
