Summer vacation is always chock full of adventure for my family. Between traveling, more outdoor time and many an hour spent poolside, my kiddos make the most of their time off. This summer finds us in Colorado visiting family and enjoying some family hiking. We’ve actually been hiking so much that I created a little printable hiking scavenger hunt for the kids.
We’ve been having a blast showing the kids some of our favorite places (I went to high school in Colorado and my hubby and I moved back for a couple of years before he went into the Air Force) and getting the opportunity to drag my grandparents around with us a bit. They were in town from Montana for what they thought was just a visit, but we got the whole fam together for a surprise 60th anniversary party. It was a blast and I’ll be sharing some pics soon!
In the meantime, I’ll just show you all what a fun time we had in the great outdoors! We made sure to stock up on our Banana Boat® sunscreen so all of that fair Montana skin didn’t burn. We also try to be super vigilant because we know that sunscreen protects us from things that aren’t as easy to spot as a sunburn..long term effects, like skin damage and skin cancer.
We took a picnic into Rocky Mountain National Park and then took an easy hike around a nearby lake. Here is my grandma with my youngest, with a sweet little waterfall in the background:
After walking (and climbing) for a bit, the kids started to find items and challenge each other to find another of the same. Next time we go out, we’ll take our printable hiking scavenger hunt and be ready to go!
We’ll just be sure to reapply one ounce of our Banana Boat® every two hours and soak up all that this summer has to offer!
The good news is that the spray is so fun that my kids will do all of the applying! 🙂
