Now that all three of my kiddos are in school, I am lucky to be able to volunteer a lot of time there, helping out in any way possible. It has been an incredible experience to not only see how my children interact with their teachers and peers, but also to get to know the amazing folks who have dedicated their lives to shaping the minds of our youth. It is humbling and rewarding work, and I am so appreciative of my time there and the lessons it has taught me.
What I wish more parents knew is that there are tons of opportunities to help out at your child’s school, even if you can’t physically be at the school. There are always phone calls to be made and emails to be sent, papers to be stapled, cut or graded and don’t forget the easiest and least time consuming of them all…the Tyson Project A+™.
I recently discovered this awesome program from Tyson® and was super excited by the possibilities! Each of their participating products has a label that you can just clip off and redeem for 24¢ each for the school of your choice, to be used in whatever way they need. When you think about your entire student population and their families working together, you could raise some serious moola! In fact, one school raised over $3,900 last year!!!
So I headed off to Walmart in search of participating Tyson® products and was pleasantly surprised to find that there are almost 50 delicious varieties! Below is my adorable daughter sticking her head in the freezer case to get a closer look and decide which variety suited her best.
We grabbed a couple bags of Popcorn Chicken- Any’tizers® snacks and hurried home…the kids were excited to use up all of the food so they could cut the label off. I was excited about the protein packed all-white meat that is perfect for after school fuel. The preparation could not have been much simpler (preheat the oven and spread snacks on a baking sheet)…another bonus!
The food was delicious, the company was unbeatable and the feeling of knowing that we are helping our school was outstanding. As a busy mother myself, I understand that there are so many demands on you for your time and energy. I encourage you to let Tyson® help you out with snack time or dinner so you can kick back, relax a bit and help your school out at the same time.
